What needs to be done?

• Source and negotiate prices and purchase for materials listed on BOM or drawings, from suppliers to ensure that the company gets the best price without compromising quality, on time and according to prescribed standards, all under guidance of Technical Specialists .
• Process AX orders with suppliers who meet the set criteria to ensure that orders are delivered on time and according to set standards. 
• Verify orders against purchasing requisitions to ensure that there are no mistakes on the documents, according to set standards and within agreed time framework.
• Liaise with suppliers to expedite deliveries to ensure that the suppliers meet the agreed delivery dates.
• Provide feedback to Project Manager/Engineer on the status of orders to ensure that they are advised beforehand when orders are not going to be delivered as expected, on time, according to set standards.
• Update and maintain all procurement related or relevant AX data to set standards.   
• Attend to supplier queries to ensure that problems are resolved before they escalate. Arrange for returns to suppliers and credits where required. Monitor supplier performance and provide feedback to suppliers
• Identify new suppliers for product and services by conducting market research.
• Evaluate spend per commodity spend and consider long terms agreements.
• Promote cost saving opportunities with suppliers. Review and analyse price increases. Issue tenders, compile adjudications, conduct clarifications meetings and responses to suppliers.
• Ensure the Suppliers BBBEE certificates are current to maximize the company BEE status.
• Ensure adherence to health and safety standards in compliance with company policy to ensure a safe working environment.
• Adhere to Sarbanes Oxley and AX controls.

What do you need to bring?

• Purchasing Diploma or equivalent qualification
• Computer literate and proficiency in AX system(Buyer role) and MS Office
• At least 3 years of experience in the engineering, manufacturing and project environments
• 5 years’ experience as a Buyer
• Technical knowledge of drawings and of product will be an added advantage
• Good communication and negotiation skills
• Understanding of Forex requirements
• Ability to work under pressure.

What needs to be done?

• Conduct quality control inspection in-house, at suppliers and on site. Large part of the duties will comprise of total Quality Control of large contracts with complete and well-maintained records of all scope of supply and on-site activities.
• Maintain a comprehensive and always up to date record of inspections
• Issue NCR’s where applicable and ensure they are closed off thoroughly and timeously
• Take charge in and ensure Howden quality certification is maintained and conforms the latest standards
• Conduct internal and supplier audits to ensure conformance with Howden QMS and other Howden quality control requirements
• Ensure Howden holds all required instrumentation required for inspection and that the instrumentation is well maintained, certifies, calibrated and controlled in secure and well controlled manner
• Responsible for strive to zero costs of poor quality
• Mentoring and training of less experienced staff to up-skill existing Howden people resources

• Grade 12
• SAIW: Welding & Fabrications Inspector level 1 and 2.
• Quality control certification from a recognised institution.

• Skilled in environmental and legal issues around QC and Safety

What needs to be done?

• Resource schedule to be drawn up and updated daily and forward to Workshop manager and Project managers.
• Tracking of progress: Conduct visual progress inspections to verify progress as reported by site staff and escalate issues where applicable.
• Analyses Progress: Analyse progress, obstacles, changes, risks, trends etc.  to the effect that corrective action can be made pro-actively (where applicable) and provide feedback to management
• Resource scheduling of workshop personnel
• Follow up on incoming projects with Project Managers to get Job numbers and Project files
• Update production schedules to indicate completed orders thereby ensuring that completed orders are no longer tracked.
• Attend to production queries by identifying causes of problems in order to give feedback and recommend appropriate solutions and ensure that problems are resolved and do not escalate.
• Manage Drivers for collection and delivery of goods for workshop and customers
• Manage fleet vehicles to ensure they are in operations.
• Ensure customer delivery notes are handed over to Project Managers
• Assist Project Managers with Bar charts if required for projects.
• Make sure all QCP are updated on a daily basis and when jobs are done QCP signed off send back to Project Managers.

What do you need to bring?

• Supply Chain/ Planning Diploma or a Technical qualification

What needs to be done?

• Undertake retrofit selections and designs to produce a fit-for-purpose end product as per Customer specifications.
• Assess the condition of existing equipment and generate repair procedures and reports to produce a fit-for-purpose reconditioned product.
• Develop and revise Engineering dept. documentation (i.e. specifications, design manuals, welding procedures, software etc.) to ensure they are relevant and up-to-date. Submit all items for checking and approval (signed-off) by Senior Engineers to ensure correctness and that errors are not carried through to production.
• Provide workable engineering solutions to problems experienced by both internal and external clients to ensure their needs are met.
• Develop external client relationships to promote the Howden product range and with the view to introducing enhancements to existing equipment.
• Develop the role of ‘vibration specialist’ as required in support of engineering tasks.
• Draw up and maintain a register of repair procedure for workshop and site.
• Assist workshop and Site staff with fault finding.
• Assist with commissioning of the plant.
• Assist and draw up manufacturing processes.
• Perform alternative material selection based on application.
• SOX Compliance: Adhere to Sarbanes Oxley and AX controls.
• Competent to perform the principal technical functions of the Senior Engineers and provide back-up as necessary.

• Formal tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering (HND, B-Tech, BSc).
• 2 years’ experience in the application of Turbomachinery product range.
• At least 5 years’ experience in heavy engineering workshop practice.
• Vibration course (level 3).
• Welding course.
• Working knowledge of applicable software.
• Good communications skills (verbal and written).

What needs to be done?

• Receive Timesheets and attendance registers daily for the previous day for all sites
• Check attendance register against timesheet booked daily
• Where deviations are picked up , follow up from site to correct
• Follow up on outstanding timesheets and attendance registers daily
• Follow up rejected Timesheets from capturers (clock no's and job no's not loaded on system)
• Follows up on weekly reconciliation timesheet numbers
• Obtain copies of timesheets to assist supervisor with the forth nightly reconciliation
• Timesheet and attendance register filled weekly
• Capture timesheets accurately on AX as and when received
• Retrieve timesheets for project Manager queries
• Issue new and receive old timesheet books from site

What do you need to bring?

• Grade 12
• Administration qualification will be an advantage

What needs to be done?

• Check and draw up QCP for both mechanical and specialized welding for submission to customers according to Howden standards.
• Compile mechanical and specialized welding data packs before job starts and check that all the required documentation is according to Howden standards
• Compile all standards instruction manuals for outages and make sure that the site supervisor keeps their maintenance standards instruction manuals updated at all times.
• Ensure all quality procedures are up to date and reviewed on an annual basis.
• Assist quality control manager with implementation of quality systems and procedures.
• Check and maintain departmental documents on the server.
• Make sure all drawings for all sites are readily available at Middelburg office.
• Maintain NCR register and assist with completion or close out of NCR’s.
• Ensure all site QC daily reports are filed to site specific files and kept up to date.
• Control and archive data books.
• Ensure the return of data files from site using a data book register and keep it updated on a weekly basis.
• Assist with conducting of Audits on GO Sites and maintenance sites.
• SOX compliance: adhere to Sarbanes Oxley and AX Controls.

What do you need to bring?

• Matric/ Grade 12.
• Computer Literacy in MS word and Excel.
• Basic Quality qualification will be an advantage.
• Quality exposure in industrial/manufacturing environment will be an advantage.
