    Specialist (Process Safety)

    Overview    

    • Ensure alignment and compliance to the Group Process Safety Management (PSM) system and standards.
    • Develop, maintain and continuously improve Process Safety (PS) for SHERQ SADC in line with the legal requirements for the major hazardous installations.
    • All activities, roles and responsibilities are aligned to the world class (manufacturing) philosophy, principles and practices.

    Qualifications    

    • Matric (Maths and Science)
    • Engineering Degree
    • Post Graduate Degree (Hons, MSc, PhD, etc)

    Experience    

    • 5-8 Years’ experience in a chemical industry with 5 years in Process Safety field

    Duties    

    Design, implement, maintain and improve the PS Management system:

    • Design, drive implementation, maintenance and improvement of PS management systems (including CAIA requirements)
    • Ensure adherence to Omnia Group risk methodology and practices
    • Validate and verify the correct specifications, protocols and standards are applied in the implementation of PS Management systems
    • Assist in development and revision of PS related documentation and ensure implementation and compliance thereto across site
    • Promote continuous improvement of PS Management systems and processes
    • Align PS Management systems with holistic IMS for site
    • Provide support and coaching to SHERQ team and customers

    Lead Process Safety Business Risks Assessment and review:

    • Determine, identify and review PS risks through HAZOP's and other suitable risk assessment methodologies
    • Determine and review PS trends 
    • Assess and review risk ratings
    • Determine priorities and actions
    • Maintain risk profile on IsoMetrix
    • Provide support to line management and SHERQ team on PS related risk assessments
    • Ensure the MHI risk assessment is conducted every 5 years for all MHI facilities onsite, assessment is discussed with relevant stakeholders, shared with neighbours, and proposed corrective measures are evaluated, implemented and driven to conclusion so as to reduce the site's MHI risk profile

    Conduct PS internal audits:

    • Planning and scheduling of PS audits based on Group PS Standards
    • Conduct audits in order to ensure integrity of systems are maintained
    • Ensure reports are issued and findings captured in IsoMetrix
    • Ensure findings and actions are closed-out appropriately
    • Report to management on status of findings and actions
    • Participate and support on verification of corrective actions and systems implementation

    Conduct investigations:

    • Ensure that all events (incidents and non-conformances) are raised and reported
    • Be proficient in leading investigations
    • Facilitate investigations
    • Ensure quality of investigations by standardising on investigation methodology and ensuring root causes and controls are adequate to remediate
    • Ensure investigation is captured in IsoMetrix
    • Ensure investigation actions are managed
    • Make use of other events (incident & NC-learnings) to find opportunities for improvement

    System Analysis & Reporting:

    • Ensure all data is submitted timeously
    • Analyse, trend and maintain operational PS data
    • Ensure data needed for Group PS Steercom is submitted as needed

    • Support and communication:
    • Attend operational meetings and communicate PS requirements as needed and agreed to
    • Develop/update and deliver PS training and awareness programs
    • Ensure PS topics are developed and shared with plants to improve PS awareness
    • Lead the department PS Committee and ensure smeeting management principles are adhered to
    • Attend and represent the site at the Group Process Safety Steercom as needed

    Process Safety Improvement and support:

    • Through analysis of data, create a risk profile of the operations
    • Facilitate, review and implementation of PS Management plans for the site as needed to reduce operational risk and improve efficiency
    • Ensure improvement plans are tracked and closed out as per due dates
    • Assist management in the ongoing drive towards continuous improvement through identification of opportunities of improvement and implementation of plans and strategies towards this goal

    Legal Compliance:

    • Identify legal requirements relevant to the operations
    • Ensure that inspections are done so as to identify legal noncompliance
    • Collaborate with and assist the operational teams in solving legal non-compliance
    • Follow up to ensure the legal non-compliance are resolved or escalated to higher levels for resolution
    • Ensuring alignment and compliance to CAIA standard:
    • Identify CAIA requirements relevant to the operations
    • Ensure that strategies are in place to conform to relevant requirements
    • Ensure CAIA audit is done as is required by the business
    • Ensure CAIA Data is submitted as is needed

    General Assistant RoG_ (Tshipi Site)

    Overview    

    We are recruiting for an Assistant (Explosives Truck) to ensure that all the prescribed duties are carried out in preparation of a detonation, performing the detonation, and concluding post-detonation tasks. In this process, will be responsible for assisting the blaster and truck operator with the preparation of the blast block.  To assist the truck operator to collect products at silos and deliver product down the hole at the blasting face. Responsible for the housekeeping and maintenance of the vehicle, re-filling area and other working areas. A successful candidate must have a Matric with Maths, Previous experience in blasting / mining environment, 2 years blasting assistant experience

    Qualifications    

    • Grade 12 with Maths
    • Code 10 would be an added advantage

    Experience

    Duties    

    • To re-fill the truck at the loading points with the prescribed raw materials / products under the supervision of the Truck Operator. Assist the Truck Operator in conducting the prescribed pre-use inspections Prior to use of the truck.
    • To perform cleanliness duties of the vehicle on an on-going basis so that it is presentable in the eye of the public.
    • To perform housekeeping duties as instructed by the Foreman or other authority figure. This may include cleaning, sweeping of the site, silo areas and cleaning ablution facilities.
    • To ensure Personal cleanliness at all times as per SHERQ requirement.
    • To carry out an inspection of all the holes and measure them to ensure that they are drilled to the correct depth in cooperation with the Truck Operator.
    • To report any out of spec holes, so that the truck operator While adhering to all the SHERQ standards and prescriptions, responsible for engaging the pumping process and loading the holes according to the design specs.
    • To place the charging hose into the correct holes as per procedures.
    • To ensure the detonator is not stuck at the bottom of the hole before charging commence
    • To ensure the detonator line is secured at the collar of the hole to eliminate the possibility of the detonator line falling into the hole.
    • To act as a Spotter to guide and direct the Truck Operator on the blasting area as per procedures.
    • To take samples as per procedures.
    • To ensure the availability of sample cups on the truck.
    • To assist operator to check final densities.
    • To measure before delivering product down the hole.
    • To check of final stemming.
    • To ensure good condition and safe keeping of the measuring tape.
    • To ensure that correct twine is used for not overcharging holes.
    • To ensure that twine is in a good condition.
    • To assist the truck operator with the calibration of the applicable raw materials on the truck.
    • To assist the truck operator with the calibration of the twine, Samson sample scale and the measuring tape.
    • To clean the calibration equipment and calibration area.
    • To assist the truck operator with the grease of all movable parts on the truck chassis and plant.
    • To assist the truck operator to clean all strainers on the truck.
    • To assist the truck operator with all other mini maintenance like changing of tyres, rotors and stators.
    • To ensure that all SHERQ requirements are met.

    Storeman (Sasolburg)

    Overview    

    Handles the receipt of parts, equipment and consumables, their storage and subsequent issue against appropriate requisitions. Records parts, equipment and consumable movements on a computerized system. Ensures that the stores are kept in good order and are clean and tidy. All activities, roles and responsibilities are aligned to the world class (manufacturing) philosophy, principles and practices.

    Duties    

    • Issue materials as per Stores Requisition Form.
    • Compare information on requisitions to material issued to verify accuracy of order.
    • Ensure that the necessary authorisations are in place prior to issuing stock.
    • Identify the need for and do partial issuing as per system requirements.
    • Capture all Stores requisitions according to requisition number on ERP system.
    • File all captured requisitions according to Requisition number.
    • Receive items returned to store and ensure adherence to return procedure as per system requirements.
    • Receive material via “Direct Delivery” or Stock route.
    • Bin and identify store items in correct allocated store area.
    • Inform supervisor on low stock levels or incorrect/damaged materials, equipment and supplies received.

    • Conduct general housekeeping as instructed by Supervisor
    • Complete “South Store Register” book at main store for goods taken to south store
    • Wears Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary for the job.
