    Main purpose

    PwC Deals is a leading corporate finance and transaction services advisory business in South Africa, experiencing growth driven by long term client relationships and a strong senior team.  In order to take full advantage of the existing growth opportunities, we are looking for ambitious and highly motivated deals practitioners to join our team.

    The successful candidate will have a support role to play in the Deals team and will be mainly involved in due diligence investigations and the valuation of business enterprises, expert opinions, financial reporting valuations and the valuation of intangible assets such as brands, trademarks, customer relationships, software, proprietary technology and licences.

    The candidate will gain exposure to a wide range of clients, from global multinationals through to entrepreneurial, owner managed businesses, covering both domestic and cross border work.

    Responsibilities/ output:

    The successful candidate will have a support role to play in the team across a broad range of transactions including:

    • Due diligence investigations

    • Profit forecast reviews

    • Working capital reviews

    Qualification Level:

    • CA (SA)

    Experience:

    • CA (SA), qualified by no later than December 2020, with up to 36 months post article Deals relevant experience

    Competencies/ skills:

    • (CFA or studying towards CFA would be advantageous)
    • Strong financial skills are critical
    • Ability to demonstrate a high level of agility in a demanding environment

    Purpose of this Position

    Within our Corporate Tax group, the Deals Tax team offers its expertise to clients to enable them to deliver tax effective business transactions, whether they be restructuring, due diligence, re-financings, BEE transactions, mergers and acquisitions or divestments. 

     

    Responsibilities

    • Assist the team with buy side and sell side due diligences.

    • Assist in advising clients on the structuring of business transactions and tax implications thereof; 

    • Drafting of opinions for clients on the tax consequences of restructures, mergers and acquisitions as well as other pertinent matters;

    • Research of complex tax issues; 

    • Interpretation of tax legislation; 

    • Liaison with SARS and Counsel regarding complex and uncertain tax matters; and

    • Assist with the implementation of transactions including:

    • review of financial models; and

    • transaction legals. 

    • Tax Consultant responsibilities in respect of the above will include:

    • Assisting management in planning assignment approach including understanding client expectations and scoping work;

    • Ensuring timely delivery, including performing relevant research, review of information, identifying tax issues and drafting of deliverables; 
      Assisting with financial portfolio management including WIP management, billings and cash collection.

    • Complying with risk management procedures
