    nGap Lecturer in Retail Business Management (P08)

    • The successful candidate will be appointed as a lecturer in Retail Business Management in management Sciences, while receiving reduced teaching loads and structured mentorships to support the completion of a doctoral qualification, development of teaching competence, and establishment of a research profile in Retail Business Management, Marketing or Business Management.
    • The incumbent will contribute to undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching, curriculum development, and academic activities within the department, in line with the objectives of the NGAP and the institution.

    Minimum requirements 

    • Master’s degree in Retail Business Management or master’s degree in business management or any equivalent Master’s degree (specializing in Marketing or Small Business Management).
    • Prospective candidates should have achieved an average of 70% or above at masters level.
    • Must be forty (40) years or younger.
    • At least two years teaching experience in a higher education environment
    • Commit to the completion of Doctoral studies, within a prescribed period.
    • Be a South African citizen.

    Recommended requirements 

    • Registration for a Doctoral degree
    • Membership of professional associations/bodies
    • Completed moderator and assessor training programmes, 
    • Knowledge of technology-enhanced learning

    nGap Lecturer in Accounting (P08)

    • The successful candidate will be appointed in the Department of Accounting and Economics Sciences as a lecturer in Accounting, while receiving reduced teaching loads and structured mentorship to support the completion of a doctoral qualification, development of teaching competence, and establishment of a research profile in accounting.

    nGap Lecturer in Sustainable Energy Education (P08)

    Minimum Requirements 

    • A master’s degree in education specialising in Environmental Education, Energy Studies, Engineering Education, or a related field.
    • Minimum average of 70% at master’s level.
    • Applicants must be 40 years and younger.
    • Registration or eligibility for registration for a PhD programme in Sustainable Energy Education or a related field.
    • Demonstrated interest and potential in sustainable energy and environmental education.
    • South African citizenship or permanent residence (priority given to South African citizens)
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
    • Commitment to completing a PhD within the programme timeframe

    Recommendations 

    • Prior teaching experience at a basic or higher education level
    • Research outputs (publications, conference presentations, or working papers)
    • Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and sustainability principles.
    • Community engagement experience in environmental or energy education

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Register for and complete a doctoral degree within the programme period.
    • Teach undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses in Sustainable Energy Education and related areas (workload increases progressively from 20% to 100%).
    • Develop a sustainable research profile and contribute to the Faculty’s research output.
    • Participate in curriculum development and innovation in Sustainable Energy Education.
    • Engage actively in the nGAP mentoring programme and SSAU Development Programme.
    • Participate in Faculty, School, and University activities and committees.
    • Contribute to community engagement initiatives.
    • Present research at conferences and publish in accredited journals.
    • Submit annual progress reports as required by the nGAP programme.
    • Remain at SPU for 2 years after programme completion to contribute to institutional development.

    nGap Lecturer in Soil Sciences (P08)

    Minimum requirements

    • A Master of Science degree in Soil Science
    • Candidates should have achieved an average of 70% or above in their Masters.
    • Candidate must be forty (40) years or younger
    • At least two years teaching experience in a higher education environment
    • Be a South African citizen.
    • Commit to the completion of PhD studies, within a period of six years.

    Recommended requirements

    • It is highly recommended that the incumbent has knowledge of or has teaching experience in Soil Science.
    • Evidence of teaching relevant modules in Soil Science.
    • Experience with online teaching platforms and blended learning approaches will be an added advantage.
    • Candidates who have registered for a PhD will have added advantage.
    • At least one relevant, full-length paper published in a peer-reviewed scholarly journal will be an added advantage

    Duties

    • Deliver on teaching and learning in undergraduate and post-graduate Soil Science and conduct practicals at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
    • Undertake curriculum and programme development in the Department
    • Undertake supervision of students at postgraduate level once completed PhD.
    • Participate in academic administration and subject management in the Department
    • Seek research funding and conduct research within relevant fields
    • Contribute to capacity building and collegiality within the Department
    • Engage with a diversity of stakeholders and community, including academic collaboration, research funding in the industry and government.
    • Participate in Work Integrated Learning (WIL) for undergraduate students.
