    Social Media Manager

    Job description

    Main Purpose of the Job

    The Social Media Manager will be responsible for the creation, conceptualisation and presentation of the social media plans, community management, and the integration of marketing campaigns across multiple brands in the social media community, Sun International’s online reputation management, as well as collaborating with Events and public relations teams on the advertising of Sun International’s largest annual events across social media communities with the aim of maximising the company’s organic search results, expanding Sun International’s online digital audience and helping to grow online revenue.

    Education, Experience and Competencies

    • 3 Year Bachelor’s Degree / NQF Level 7, preferably in marketing, communications or journalism
    • GAIQ certification (Google Analytics Certification) is an advantage
    • At least 5 years’ experience working within a digital role, with 3 years’ experience as an Social Media Specialist
    • Experience targeting specific goals, focused metrics and KPIs on social media marketing successes and wins.
    • Experience in the use of SEO Tools and Google Analytics for measuring and reporting
    • Exposure / knowledge of the hotel and gaming industry is a strong advantage

    Responsibilities:

    • Content Creation
    • Maintain up to date knowledge of current and future online social content and channels
    • Understand market segment and customers characteristics and online preferences
    • Develop plans for generating meaningful content to drive increased traffic, engagement and brand visibility.
    • Conceptualise and plan for digital content storyline on various channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other relevant platforms
    • Propose or provide advice on artistic designs and solutions
    • Liaise with properties with regard to concepts, ideas, deadlines, and promotional requirements
    • Liaise with production houses and creative teams to understand project scope and objectives and manage video or motion productionsBrainstorm, design and deliver content in different forms including video, photographs, social, written, etc.
    • Work with editors, producers and other designers to resolve technical and/or design issues.
    • Be an ideas bank of new innovation and concepts to be used as a foundation for content for various online channels in line with business requirements
    • Perform content audits
    • Protect and leverage Sun International content assets
    • Commission, edit and proofread content developed by third-party agents as required ensuring it meets style, tone and marketing message requirements, as well as reflecting the Sun International brand
    • Publish and schedule relevant, high quality, compelling content on various platforms
    • Set clear objectives for content calendars

    Online Social Community Management

    • Conduct an analysis of relevant market segments for various social media channels to understand the target markets attributes, preferences and requirements
    • Define a social media business plan to attract and retain social media customers
    • Engage communities across all property social platforms and tailor make the approach to suit relevant market segments
    • Review follower/fan patterns via Adobe social listening, tracking and tagging
    • Attend to inquiries that come through Direct Messaging / Inbox
    • Grow the overall brand community by engaging with new users on various platforms including Facebook, Twitter, G+, Instagram, You Tube and any other platforms as is relevant.
    • Form key relationships with influencers and brand ambassadors
    • Leverage social paid ads to promote content and increase audience reach
    • Listen, respond and engage within SLA and alert business units to issues and / queries
    • Build relationships with regular custom audiences
    • Encourage user generated content by interacting on various platforms and staying relevant
    • Social Media Plans, Campaigns & Advertising
    • Develop relevant content topics to reach the company’s target customers.
    • Create a regular publishing schedule.
    • Implement a content editorial calendar to manage content and plan specific, timely marketing campaigns. (should this calendar be under general content or under social advertising as well?
    • Create, commission, curate, and manage all published content (images, video and written) on social media channels.
    • Monitor, listen and respond to users in a “Social” way while cultivating leads and sales.
    • Conduct online advocacy and open a stream for cross-promotions.
    • Develop and expand community and/or influencer outreach efforts.
    • Oversee the design for Facebook Timeline covers, profile pics, thumbnails, ads, landing pages, Twitter profile, Blog, etc.
    • Design, create and manage promotions and social ad campaigns.
    • Manage efforts in building online reviews and reputation by monitoring online reviews and respond to each review.
    • Promote content through social advertising ensuring there is synergy across the platforms according to set budgets and defined audiences.
    • Create engaging content to convert and drive sales through carefully selected images and ad copy with clear calls to action
    • Online Reputation Management
    • Influence products and services by determining and evaluating current and future market trends.
    • Adapts social media channels and campaigns to meet changing business priorities (environmental changes, market trends)
    • Create synergy and alignment of the marketing objectives across social media channels in line with business requirements
    • Elicit new business opportunities and leverage relationships to promote operational revenues; competitive edge and business growth
    • Identify threats and opportunities in user-generated content surrounding the company. Report notable threats to appropriate management.

    • Analyze key metrics and report on results and plans as needed.
    • Measure the following areas against social media objectives and determine the ROI including Audience growth, Audience profile, Audience engagement, Content reach, Engagement by content type, Customer Feedback
    • Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design and plans.
    • Analyze campaigns and translate anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising social media and social advertising campaigns.
    • Monitor effective benchmarks (Best Practices) for measuring the impact of social media campaigns and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results
    • Use data and analyses to boost and develop positive public perceptions around activities, campaigns and opportunities to further grow the online business.
    • Timeous delivery of monthly social reports.
