    Position Description Key Responsibilities

    • Providing administrative support to Estate Administrators.
    • Reporting of new estates to relevant parties.
    • Preparation of Liquidation & Distribution account.
    • Drafting of elementary Liquidation & Distribution accounts.
    • Transfer of movable assets e.g. shares, firearms and vehicles.
    • Reconciliation of bank accounts.
    • Drafting of elementary cash statements.
    • Preparation of final tax return.
    • General typing and filing duties.

    Minimum Requirements

    Qualification:

    Grade 12

    Experiece:

    At least one year Estate Administration experience in a similar role.

    Knowledge:

    Basic knowledge of financial concepts and principles

    Underwriter and Rules Writer (Job Grade 9 -10)

    Job description

    Position Details

    Position Description

    This position will be incorporated in the existing underwriter team structure and career path in which the next level will be any

    of the specialist positions on post grade 11.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Underwriting (50%)
      • Underwrite all aspects of Risk applications (e.g. medical, occupational, part-time activities, financial information, etc.)
      • Underwrite sub-standard cases.
      • Underwrite Business Insurance (Buy and Sell, Key Person etc.)
      • Request medical and financial requirements and/or limit requirements.
      • Placement of cases according to Reassurance treaty and related guidelines.
      • Negotiate with Re-Assurers for more competitive rates
      • Correspond with medical doctors and re-assess underwritten cases
      • Telephonic client service
      • Handle and resolve complaints from clients with regards to underwriting and rates allocated
      • Quality assurance of work done by peers. Assess and report on competency and/or underwriting ability
      • Mentoring and Coaching of other Underwriters (includes reviewing of work).
    • Automated Underwriting rules writer (40%)
      • Configuration of Underwriting rules from needs expressed by Product Development requirement to an Automated Underwriter system and Sanlam’s Medical Underwriting Manual (MUM).
      • Updating of MUM
      • Custodian of consistency between MUM and the automated underwriting engine.
      • Create test cases / test packs.
      • Implement rules into the Automated Underwriter system.
      • Assist with testing / functional checks before releases are signed off and implemented.
      • Identify potential risks / issues and make suggestions to mitigate risks.
      • Resolve queries from users.
    • Process analyst: (10%)
      • Work under the guidance of the Chief Underwriter: Distribution Support & New Products with SIL Business Change Business Analysts and IT personnel for development of a cost efficient and quality supportive underwriting system.
      • Continuous improvement of current system and business processes.

    Note : Must work compulsory overtime (±19 hours per month).

    Minimum Requirements

    Qualification

    • Grade 12
    • Relevant qualification that will complement Underwriting will be beneficial.
    • Any qualification with emphasis on IT-related courses will be beneficial.

    Experience

    • ±4 years Sanlam Underwriting experience
    • Sound Microsoft Office experience in Word and Excel

    Knowledge :

    • Understanding of project management principles
