    Senior Customer Solutions Manager

    Description

    At Amazon Web Services (AWS) we are changing the future of IT. As part of the core AWS account team you will help our customers to arrive in that future. You will work across AWS teams and apply your technical and program management expertise to serve some of the largest and globally diverse enterprises in the world.

    Roles and Responsibilities
    You will collaborate with customers, sales, solutions architecture, software development and service teams to deliver solutions that solve some of the most complex and challenging technology problems our customer face. You will work with customers and internal stakeholders to scope work, set business goals, identify appropriate resources, track and report on progress and develop schedules to speed customer adoption and migrations. You monitor customer performance by assessing risks, anticipating bottlenecks, providing critical issue management, balance trade-offs, and encourage risk tasking to maximize business value.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Demonstrated ability to effectively deliver information at the C-suite/VP level
    • Experience working with current web technologies (especially Cloud)
    • Self-motivated problem solver; able to thrive in a dynamic and customer-focused environment
    • Strong organizational and troubleshooting skills with precise attention to detail
    • Demonstrated ability to maintain composure in stressful situations, responds to customer needs quickly and effectively, adapts to change
    • Highly analytical, technically proficient, and able to learn new tools and software quickly
    • Strong listening skills; demonstrated ability to ask effective questions

    Preferred Qualifications

    • PMP, Prince 2, PgMP, SAFe, or SCRUM/Agile certified
    • 15+ project or program managing complex, large scale, IT/technical/engineering programs
    • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or equivalent experience (Computer Science preferred)
    • Direct experience implementing AWS/cloud services
    • Deep understanding of software development/engineering lifecycle from conception to delivery
    • Demonstrated leadership through influence
    • Prior experience working with or managing teams leading large technical programs, particularly at high growth startups or Fortune 500 companies
    • Working experience as a SCRUM master or leading a SAFe program
    • Prior experience working in a Technology sales organization
    • Superior written and verbal communication skills
    • Business English language skills

    Senior Solutions Architect

    Description

    In your role, you will have the opportunity to help shape and deliver on a strategy to build mind share and broad use of Amazon’s utility computing web services (Amazon EC2 compute, Amazon S3 storage, Amazon Simple DB/RDS databases, Amazon CloudFront CDN, etc.) within large strategic accounts. Your broad responsibilities will include: owning the technical engagement and ultimate success around specific implementation projects, working cross-organizationally to facilitate widespread use and adoption of the AWS platform, and developing a deep expertise in the AWS technologies as well as broad know-how around how applications and services are constructed using the AWS platform. The ideal candidate will possess customer facing skills that will allow them to represent AWS well within the customer’s environment and drive discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, and risk mitigation. He/she should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Support the AWS Business development team to help formulate a strategy to help the adoption of AWS within South Africa.
    • Guide customers to ensure success in building and migrating applications, software and services following the principles of the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
    • Help educate enterprise customers on the value proposition of AWS, and participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud.
    • Help provide one-to-few and one-to-many training sessions to transfer knowledge to customers considering or already using AWS.
    • Capture and share best-practice knowledge among the AWS solutions architecture community.
    • Author or otherwise contribute to AWS customer-facing publications such as whitepapers.
    • Build deep relationships with senior technical individuals within customers to enable them to be cloud advocates.
    • Act as a technical liaison between customers, service engineering teams and support.
       

    Basic Qualifications

    • Background in any of the following: Cloud Architecture, Systems Design, Software Development, Infrastructure Architecture, Data Engineering or DevOps
    • Technical Degree (Computer Science, Maths, Engineering or equivalent) and/or relevant tech experience.
    • Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English
    • Passion for technology and for learning
       

    Preferred Qualifications
    The following qualifications are desired but not required:

    • Experience designing, building, refactoring or operating IT systems - either on premises or in the cloud
    • Working knowledge of cloud native architectures
    • Knowledge of a modern programming language (Python, JavaScript, Go, .Net, Java, etc.) and/or scripting, Infrastructure as Code etc.
    • Experience working in a customer-facing role
    • Experience with public speaking
    • AWS certification (e.g. AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional) or other industry certification
    • Continued or advanced learning (Master, MBA, PhD or equivalent)
