    Job description

    ROLE DESCRIPTION:

    Sygnia is the fastest-growing multi-management company in South Africa. Become a part of the Management Team, and be responsible for the day to day administration of Retirement Funds and all that encompasses.

    You will also be responsible to lead and manage the team's total operational capabilities to support the business strategy, as well as performance manage the team, assist with daily operations, and ensure processes are followed and standards are adhered to.

    DUTIES AND DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Oversee the day to day operations of the Team
    • Checking and authorising staff day to day work, e.g. contribution updates, claims, investments, disinvestments, switches, transfers, administration reports, benefit statements
    • Ensure that the team adheres to the clients' current Service Level Agreement and add value to clients by continually trying to improve the services provided
    • Ensure that the team(s) performs according to contracted performance areas to deliver the highest level of service
    • Identify ways of promoting accuracy and maximising productivity within the team
    • Plan, assign & monitor work of the team members
    • Maintain high levels of teamwork within the administration team
    • Manage existing client relationships
    • Ensuring Beginning-of-Day and End-of-Day processes are completed
    • Evaluate and Improve processes to ensure effectiveness and efficiency (regularly)
    • Document and update processes
    • Investigate and resolve client and internal queries efficiently and on a timely basis
    • Responding in a professional, timely and empathetic manner to both written and telephonic enquiries from internal and external clients
    • Regularly engage, interact with and report to management and the clients where required
    • Liaise with internal and external auditors
    • Ensures tax, legislative and statutory requirements are met
    • Assist with the implementation of changes to new and existing products and processes
    • Balances own priorities while directing and motivating others
    • Having and maintaining a technical understanding of Sygnia EB’s offerings and the ability to apply that understanding to daily outputs
    • Assess staff performance on an ongoing basis and perform staff appraisals
    • On the job training and performance management where required

    ROLE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Appropriate tertiary qualification;
    • Relevant financial qualification would be to your advantage;
    • A minimum of 2 years' people management experience;
    • Knowledge of the applicable legislative environment (specifically the FAIS Act, Pension Funds Act, POPI)
    • Strong operational knowledge of Retirement Funds

    Junior Retail Investment Accountant

    Job description

    ROLE DESCRIPTION:

    We are looking for an exceptional individual to join our team Retail Investment Finance Team in the capacity of Junior Retail Investment Accountant.

    DUTIES AND DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Annual and monthly responsibilities

    • Expense and Fee billings including checks and recons
    • Preparation of monthly FSP Fee statements
    • Loading the payment of expense and fee amounts
    • Assistance with the review of monthly debit order reconciliations and preparation of debit order collections
    • Assistance with the review of the monthly Income reconciliations
    • Assistance with the preparation of PAYE files to be submitted to SARS for annuity payments (EMP201)

    Weekly responsibilities

    • Determination of weekly initial commission payments to be made
    • Preparation of weekly FSP initial commission statements
    • Payment of initial commissions

    Daily responsibilities

    • Daily Bank reconciliations for all retail bank accounts
    • Monitoring the Retail redemption bank account and ensuring the appropriate transfers are made each day
    • Daily capturing of banking ie daily payments to Mancos and the life company for investments and client collections
    • Reviewing daily investment transactions
    • Checking and authorising investment instructions to Mancos and life company

    Quantifying any corrections that need to be processed

    ROLE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    B.Com (Accounting) graduate / BBusSc (Finance with Accounting) graduate or equivalent
    Advanced Excel skills

    COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

    • Willingness to learn and takes initiative
    • Strong organizational skills – a passion for getting things done quickly and correctly.
    • Highly organized and ability to work both within a team and individually.
    • Be discreet, professional and well-spoken.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects while prioritizing work assignments.
