    Head: Strategy and Investor Relations Santam Insurance

    WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE ROLE?

    This role is responsible for leading the strategic development and implementation process. The primary stakeholder group is CEO, EXCO and the Board. The role is required to be able to credibly influence across the Santam Group, and to represent Santam at senior external engagements with strategy and insurance experts. ESG/Sustainability and Investor Relations functions are integrated in this strategy.

    WHAT IS THE SCOPE OF THIS ROLE?

    • The role is responsible for leading the Strategy and Investor Relations unit that provides the Board, CEO and EXCO with reliable and credible strategic market intelligence and monitoring.
    • To design, inform and facilitate the Santam Strategy process at EXCO and Board level including driving specific strategic business opportunities and special projects.
    • To ensure alignment with strategy through networking with and influencing key forums in Santam and the broader Sanlam Group.
    • To credibly influence across the Santam Group, and to represent Santam at senior external engagements with strategy and insurance experts.
    • To ensure the day to day running and managing of the Strategy, Sustainability and Investor Relations unit.

    WHAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE?

    • Ability to monitor and alert management of threats and opportunities from local and international trends in the legislative, political, social, environmental, industrial perspective that impact on the investor relations strategy

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • CA(SA) or equivalent qualification plus a business specific qualification

    Underwriter

    What will you do?
    Prive has a position available for a commercial underwriter - Risk engineering. The position will have full accountability for the underwriting of all very large Commercial Property policies with exposures greater than R2500m at every stage of the policy lifecycle i.e. from quote stage to amendments to renewal of these policies and will therefore require a certain level of discretion to be considered and applied. The incumbent will be expected to know these policies intimately and be able to discuss details directly with brokers, giving advice where required and suggesting solutions.

    What will make you successful in this role?

    • Provide technical reviews of survey reports and risk reduction requirements
    • Prepare underwriting terms on quotes for these policies
    • Handle amendments for these policies on the Santam systems
    • Prepare reinsurance calculations to determine the exposure
    • Read and Interpret the survey report requirements and prepare RRR letters for brokers incl. handling RRR negotiations under the guidance of the relevant Technical Manager
    • Interpret technical information and assist brokers with policy wording interpretation
    • Discuss renewals with brokers for these policies and have intimate understanding of these policies so that you can have an informed discussion with brokers, Technical Managers and Commercial Property Specialist where necessary 
    • Collate information and identify missing information before sending onto Underwriting Specialist; reference source for information and recommend decision to Specialist
    • Perform underwriting reviews (new business, amendments, multi claimants and renewals)
    • Manage data quality and find solutions to improve data for underwriting purposes

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum 3 years risk surveying experience  
    • Minimum 3 years Commercial Lines underwriting experience  
    • 60 credits in terms of Commercial Lines/ RIA
    • Additional completed tertiary insurance qualifications will be beneficial  
    • In-depth knowledge of Santam Commercial product and working knowledge of our Assets All Risk product

    Merit Theft Desktop Assessor

    PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

    The purpose of this position is to determine the quantum and merit of segmented motor claims by performing investigations, verifying the description of the event with the loss, negotiating with (client, intermediary, and service providers) and settlement of claims within a delegated threshold and according to contract conditions.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Process theft claims from Desktop and determine if these are valid or invalid claims. 
    • Identify possible red flag claims that require further investigation from Field investigators.  
    • Refer to a subject matter expert if required. 
    • Determine market value of stolen vehicles for settlement (valuation).

    Junior JDE CNC Administrator

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Guided by the CNC Manager and a prioritised backlog, this role will be responsible for assisting and managing risk and impact in the JDEdwards (JDE) environments. This role will also assist with the configuration and security requirements related to JDE related projects and new JDE users.
    This role will play a crucial part in the support of Business as Usual. 

    Additional responsibilities will include any JDEdwards Developer related support within the JDEdwards software and including the install of all required software on a JDE developer machine. The role will be required to perform daily JDE Object change management and deployments and will be required to perform Standby responsibilities.

    We are looking for an individual with JDE Configurable Network Computing (CNC) experience in performing the following CNC Task:

    Java Developer

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The Core Insurance Platform team in Santam BITS (Business Information Technology Services) is looking for a Developer, who will be based in Bellville or then Johannesburg . The incumbent will be responsible for development, testing, maintaining and supporting software that meets business requirements on the Policy Administration System.

    What will you do?

    Santam BITS has a career opportunity for a Lead Business Analyst in the Digital environment with a key focus on Data analysis, calculating Digital value generation and Reporting. The digital assets include various portals and mobile apps. The person should preferably be based in Cape Town, but candidates from Gauteng will also be considered.
