    Metallurgist (Metallurgy / Mining / Chemical Engineering / Hyrdometallurgy / Mineral Processing / PGM / Base Metals)

    Job Description:

    This role will fully support 3 Business Units ranging from pre-agreed assigned tasks to urgent priority based tasks assigned by the Principal Support Role.
     
    Responsibilities:

    • Applies project management techniques to effectively manage project activities, and assists in tracking progress
    • Selects and applies metallurgical tools and techniques in support of processing plants – different Business Units use different processing methods (Mineral processing, pyrometallurgy, hydrometallurgy)
    • Optimises productivity and quality targets by utilising deep technical expertise and cooperating with multi-disciplinary teams to highlight and address areas of improvement
    • Supports the provision of relevant technical information to T&S, business units and operations to assist in driving value
    • Completes a baseload of detailed technical investigations aligned to the strategic intent of the business unit operation, both at site and in the laboratory environment aimed at delivering a specified value for the business unit
    • The nature of these technical assignments will often take the form of investigations to optimise or understand a unit operation that is underperforming at the business unit
    • Performance of the unit operations is under fixed criteria however the methodologies and procedures employed to understand the performance are flexible and at the discretion of the metallurgist
    • Delivers accurate and relevant reports to support the identification of current and future value adding opportunities
    • Supports effectiveness and continuous improvement of the productivity and value contribution within the assigned tasks

    Requirements: Qualification and Skill

    • MSc Chemistry, Metallurgical Engineering or Chemical Engineering with 3 years’ experience in PGM or base metal refining or Process development
    • Experience/exposure to metallurgical operations through project work, research and development or operational exposure, over a period exceeding 3 years
    • Prior knowledge of leaching, solution purification and metal recovery/separation technologies as applied across a range of commodities would also be considered as advantageous

    • Potentially regular local travel to site on a weekly basis will be required

    This role is responsible for ensuring that the plant technical processes, laboratory operates effectively in order to ensure the quality, and quantity of metals planned is achieved. Also responsible for all metallurgical projects. Coordinates the metallurgical and laboratory teams, equipment and services as required for the role. Actively contribute to the to the effective functioning of the Plant production teams ration as a member of the Senior Management Team, providing input meet the overall company strategic mission and objectives from a Mineral Processing perspective. Develop and implement technical and support systems, processes for the Mineral Processing Department to deliver sustainable excellence with regard to the economic performance of the plant.

    • Other requirements would include computer skills for the role certificate of fitness and driver’s license.
    • Knowledge of the best utilisation and business applications of management and plant processing
    • Experience in Mineral Processing Industry with a proven track record in Production Management
    • Experience on differential flotation would be an added advantage
    • Strong leadership skills and a track record of managing and developing people
    • Excellent relationship building skills and able to interact effectively at all levels
    • An understanding of business and financial concepts

    A tourism company is seeking a Senior Travel Consultant to be based in Cape Town, South Africa. This individual will be responsible for quoting the companies tour products for existing and new clients.

    Responsibilities:

    • Secure business and effectively cost products.
    • Understand the market and margin control.
    • Build up and maintain agent / supplier relationships.
    • Source new products.
    • Develop own sales strategy to secure more business through existing and new agents.

     

    • Quote and design successful, creative itineraries and proposals for all market related ADHOC groups, Tour Series and FIT requests.
    • Capture and confirm bookings.
    • Negotiate with suppliers for better rates, cancellation policies and FOC’s.
    • Successfully run groups / tour series / FIT booking / Fly-In and other products related to the Namibian Business Unit.
    • Compile welcome packs itineraries.
    • Create co-pilots according to itinerary.
    • Work closely with tour guides whilst on tour.

     

    • Support and co-operate with Financial Department

    Requirements: Qualification and Skill

    • Certificate / Diploma in Tourism or relevant field
    • Candidate should possess’ 5 – 6 years’ experience working as a Travel consultant
    • Must be German speaking
    • Sales experience would be preferred

    Electrical Engineer (Commissioning / Process Plant / Mining / Red Line Drawings / Short Term Contract)

    Job Description:

    Our client, who is currently in the commissioning stage of their project in Southern Africa, is in search of a qualified Electrical Engineer with previous experience in the commissioning of processing plants within the mining industry to join them on a short term contract.
     
    Responsibilities:

    • Assist in the commissioning of the processing plant.
    • Working alongside the contractor to ensure work is carried out according to company and safety requirements.
    • Assisting with red line drawings and vendor packages to expedite the completion of the fines circuit.
    • Providing mentoring and training.

    Requirements: Qualification and Skill

    • Electrical Engineering Degree.
    • Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
    • Valid driver’s license.
    • Previous process plant commissioning experience.
    • Previous experience on large-scale projects within the mining industry.
    • Previous experience as an expatriate.
    • Experience providing mentoring and training.
    • Only candidates who are available immediately will be considered.

    Benefits and Contractual information:

    • Short term contract of approximately 6 weeks.
