    Receptionist

    ROLE SUMMARY:

    • The most collaborative environment, at every level, that you will find anywhere;

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Welcoming visitors to the school and redirecting them to requested person / venue in the school or administration wing.
    • Keeping reception area and piazza neat and tidy.
    • Answering phones and taking messages / passing on information / emailing messages to staff.
    • Forwarding emails that come to reception email address on to relevant staff members.
    • Signing for any deliveries and distributing post to relevant members of staff /departments.
    • Receiving prospective students/ parents/ staff to the School.
    • Keeping an emergency contact list and procedures updated in Reception File.
    • Assisting with large Public Relations events such as Open/ Information sessions
    • Printing and emailing documents as requested by staff.
    • Typing of educational materials and assessments if needs be.
    • Class lists are compiled, updated and generated at the beginning of each term.
    • Student / Parent contact details are updated (depending on use permissions).

    WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

    • Confidence with the use of IT
    • Verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong administrative skills
    • A minimum of 4 years’ experience will be advantageous

    Inspired Teacher Career Event - Johannesburg

    EVENT DETAILS:

    • We are excited to welcome expressions of interest for our Inspired Teacher Career Event Event in Johannesburg, featuring Reddam House, Reddford House, and Northfields International School, as we begin our 2026 hiring season.
    • This in-person event will take place on the morning of Saturday, 6 September 2025, at Reddam House Helderfontein in Johannesburg.

    Attending the event will be seven of our premium Inspired schools from the Africa region:

    • Reddam House Bedfordview (Johannesburg)
    • Reddford House Blue Hills (Johannesburg)
    • Reddford House The Hills (Pretoria)
    • Reddford House Northcliff (Johannesburg)
    • Northfields International School (Mauritius)
    • This is an opportunity to explore teaching and leadership roles across our schools in South Africa and Mauritius for the 2026 academic year and to gain insights into each school's unique culture, teaching environment, as well as current or upcoming vacancies.

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

    • Current SACE registration
    • A minimum of 2 years’ teaching experience
    • Experience in a premium independent school environment
    • A proven track record of delivering high-quality, impactful teaching
    • Strong subject knowledge and effective pedagogy
    • Excellent planning, assessment, and organisational skills
    • A reflective and proactive approach to professional development
    • A commitment to student wellbeing and holistic education
    • Confidence working in partnership with engaged families and school communities
    • A Bachelor of Teaching, Diploma, or equivalent qualification
    • A collaborative, flexible, and enthusiastic approach to school life

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Typical teaching responsibilities across our schools include:

    • Planning and delivering high-quality, engaging lessons aligned with departmental and school policies
    • Teaching allocated classes, maintaining discipline, and recording student attendance and progress
    • Setting, marking, and assessing classwork, internal exams, and coursework
    • Producing student reports and academic references
    • Differentiating teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners
    • Preparing students for external assessments at the appropriate stage
    • Providing additional academic support as required by school leadership
    • Actively participating in school life – including open days, parent evenings, selection days, trips, events, and assemblies
    • Maintaining a purposeful, attractive, and organised classroom environment
    • Collaborating with colleagues and contributing to collective success
