    Snr Specialist: IT Systems Developer (Cloud Data Engineer)

    Purpose

    • To provide advice and support in area of specialisation and enable the design, creation, development, documentation & testing of programs

    Responsibilities

    • Design, build and operationalize large scale enterprise data solutions and applications using one or more of AWS data and analytics services in combination with 3rd parties – Glue, Step-functions, Kafka CC, PySpark, DynamoDB, Delta.io, RedShift, Lambda, DeltaLake, Python,.
    • Analyze, re-architect and re-platform on-premise data warehouses to data platforms on AWS cloud using AWS or 3rd party services and Kafka CC.
    • Design and build production data pipelines from ingestion to consumption within a big data architecture, using Java, PySpark, Scala, Kafka CC.
    • Design and implement data engineering, ingestion and curation functions on AWS cloud using AWS native or custom programming.
    • Perform detail assessments of current state data platforms and create an appropriate transition path to AWS cloud.
    • Design, implement and support an analytical data infrastructure providing ad-hoc access to large datasets and computing power.
    • Interface with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL , AWS big data technologies and Kafka CC.
    • Creation and support of real-time data pipelines built on AWS technologies including Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, PySpark , Athena and Kafka CC.
    • Continual research of the latest big data and visualization technologies to provide new capabilities and increase efficiency.
    • Working closely with team members to drive real-time model implementations for monitoring and alerting of risk systems.

    Minimum Experience

    • Advanced working “data engineering” knowledge and experience working with modern data practices, using Delta.io , CDC management and data load practices.
    • Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets.
    • Experience working with distributed systems as it pertains to data storage and computing.
    • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
    • Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, meta data, dependency, and workload management.
    • A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large, disconnected data sets.
    • Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable Big Data, data stores.
    • Strong project management and organizational skills.
    • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

    Snr Spec: IS Operations

    Purpose

    To build an Information Technology cyber-security and security testing capability in order to improve the Information Technology Security capability maturity. This includes developing a strategy and delivery of various control improvements, incident response planning and leadership of the cyber-security and penetration testing team.

    Minimum Qualification

    • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional),
    • CISM (Certified Information Security Manager)

    Minimum Experience

    Key Responsibilities

    Establish an IT cyber-security strategy and proactively identify cyber-security threats

    • Develop a cyber-security strategy for the Liberty Group.
    • Develop threat models for all critical technologies (application and supporting infrastructure).
    • Support the CISO with cyber-security input into the IT Security investment plans.
    • Develop cyber-security business cases to secure the budget for improvements in the cyber-security maturity.

    Coordinate cyber-security incident management, response and recovery for IT

    • Develop incident response plans (aligned with the CSOC) and recovery processes for specific cyber-security events, linked to a reliable industry source (SANS Top 10,etc.).
    • Coordinate the IT recovery process post a cyber-security incident.
    • Secure the requisite IT resources and ensure that recovery efforts receive appropriate focus and priority.
    • Write the IT Security incident report and share with the IT community, with emphasis on root cause and lessons learnt.
    • Ensure that remediation work is undertaken in line with findings and is coordinated and tracked.

    Effective stakeholder management

    • Managing group risk quotes, the renewal process and special quotes along with updating quote templates and models.
    • Liaison with internal and external stakeholders including partners, reinsurers, sales, operations, Exco etc.
    • Partner training and interaction on quotations process and requirements.
    • Assist in prioritisation and management of staff workload.
    • Staff training and development.
    • Responsible for ongoing technical development and ongoing maintenance of the quotation system in line with Liberty Africa Insurance strategy.
    • To ensure that quotes issued are in line with treaties and agreements and to  engage with reinsurers on rate and benefit support
    • To ensure that quotes are issued in line with required timelines, product accuracy and in accordance with Liberty Africa Insurance standards.

    Minimum Experience

    • At least 5 years Insurance experience, with at least 3 years’ experience in group risk pricing and quotes management.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Actuarial Science Degree with at least 5exams.
    • Insurance Product Knowledge
    • Knowledge of policy administration systems
    • Knowledge of group risk products
    • Business Acumen
    • Legislative and regulatory framework
